Virtual Reality (VR) seems to be buzzword these days. Products such as Google Cardboard, Gear VR and Seiss VR One have made this technology accessible and of course compelling. From gaming to socializing, virtual reality has created an entirely different world for the followers of this technology. The biggest fan base of VR can be found in gamers but it is also being used for other purposes which will make VR all the more common in the years to come.

In fact, the first flight stimulator was built in 1920 followed by the development of the prototype in 1962 which was a VR movie viewing experience dubbed in Sensorama by Morton Helig.

Apart from the emergence of pop culture, 90s also saw the failure of virtual reality. Even though VR headsets had gained mass attention, they did not sell well. Factors such as over pricing and media hype are considered to reasons for failure of virtual reality in the 90s.

Just add a few accessories such as gloves with sensors or surround sound audio systems and you are ready to explore and experience an entirely different world. Meet, chat and interact with your friends in beautiful virtual locations or solve puzzles while gliding through picturesque landscapes, VR has made it all possible. It isn’t limited to just fun and games, it is increasingly being used by surgical students for practise and helping children with autism learn.

Engineering and design are prime focus of virtual reality headsets. As this technology gains people’s interest, various tutorials about how to make VR headsets even from a cardboard are coming up. This has helped to open a number of possibilities in the virtual world as people are coming up with creative ways to upgrade the experience offered by VR.

Headache and sickness are some of the problems reported by first time users of virtual reality headsets. This can be due to the fact that their minds are believing that the body is in constant motion while in reality you are probably just sitting on a chair. However, leave it to the developers to sort out this problem as they are already working their best to eliminate such problems.
