Physical touch makes you healthier

Whether its one big bear hug, a squeeze of hand, a bedroom romp or a kneading massage, touch is eventually shaping up to turn out as the ultimate mind and body machine. From lowering of heart rate and blood pressure to relieving pain and increasing immune function; doing some touching or getting touched makes you a lot healthier, happier and less apprehensive. Lets count on how can tap into some of these body boosting benefits.

Get a rub down.

Any person who has ever gotten a massage knows that even a quickie helps you unwind. It’s not only a mental sensation; being massaged helps your racing beats to slow down, muscles to unclench, heightened blood pressure to lower and greater levels of cortisol stress hormone to drop. Such relaxed state helps your body to recharge and recoup and the end result is a more robust and sturdy immune system. Recently, a study conducted by researchers on healthy adults who received 45 minutes Swedish massage showed that they substantially developed more of white blood cells including the natural killer cells that help our body to fight against pathogens and viruses.

Hug it out.

The simple act of embracing can flood our bodies with a bonding hormone called oxytocin which makes people more trusting towards each other and feel secured thus lowering cortisol levels and reducing stress. Women who are often hugged by their partners are found to have lower heart rates and blood pressure along with high levels of oxytocin; according to a research conducted in North Carolina University. Nevertheless, a hug from any person with whom you are too close, works as well.

Hold hands.

Intertwining your fingers with your one-and-only is immensely calming. This fact came to light when James Coan, an assistant professor of psychology from University of Virginia administered into 16 married women functional MRIs and told them that could experience some mild shocks. The resulting anxiety affected their brain activity whose images lighted up like Christmas trees. But when those women held hands with the experimenters, the stress response subsided somewhat and additionally when they held their husband’s hands, it really soothed down. What is even more intriguing is that if you are in one happy relationship, then clasping hands greatly reduces stress related activities in brain area that further lowers the cortisol level and you can feel the change and difference in you.

Have sex.

There is no denying that love making encompasses total body contact. The skin-to-skin stroking floods bodies with feel- good endorphins and oxytocin which can do wondrous stuffs for our emotion well-being. Frequent sex does the physical body much good, it even prevents us from getting sick very often. If you aren’t partnered up, then solo sex counts even. Studies link masturbation with much lower risks of depression.

Cuddle up with pets.

If you already own a pet, you must have noticed that scratching your animal often makes you seem less tensed. In fact, studies show that animals can significantly lower a person’s blood pressure level, specifically if that animal is a dog and one that is loved.
